Overlay

Puts words on a picture.

Text, colour and captions for the photos you are about to post.

One-time unlock. No subscription.

Coming to the App Store.

The Overlay app icon

One look across the whole carousel.

Edit one photo until it is right. Then apply that look to every other photo in the set in one pass — colour, type and styling together.

Each caption keeps its own words.

Colour in eight bands.

Eight bands, each with its own hue, saturation and luminance. Cool a sky without touching skin. Pull one colour out of a picture without flattening the rest.

Text that is already designed.

Twenty-eight text styles in six sets — trend, label, subtitle, poster, hand and plain. One tap sets the face, the weight, the colour, the backing and the spacing together.

Not three hundred fonts to scroll past.

Twelve stickers, drawn for this app. Half of them take your colour.

What Overlay does not do.

And it never asks to see your photo library. iOS hands over only the pictures you pick, so Overlay has no access to the rest.

One-time unlock.

Overlay runs on your phone. There is no server to pay for, so there is nothing to bill you for monthly.

Privacy

Overlay has no account and no server. Your pictures and your edits are not uploaded anywhere, because there is nowhere to upload them to.

It asks for one permission — adding a finished picture to your camera roll — and it never reads your photo library.

No analytics. No crash reporting. No trackers.
